Getting Started with Long Island Birding
A simple field kit and observation method for new birders.

You need only curiosity, a notebook, and—if available—binoculars. First notice habitat and behavior. Then compare size, shape, bill, color pattern, movement, and voice. Record uncertainty; returning to an observation is part of learning.
